Our STORY
Founded by a Nurse, Centered in Compassion
Carewann was founded by Ann Smith, whose path in healthcare began at age 17 as a nurse assistant in a nursing home. That early experience shaped her understanding of what compassionate care truly means in life’s most vulnerable moments.
Over 30 years, Ann grew through nearly every role in the field: nurse assistant, staffing and care coordinator, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, care manager, and director. Her work spans pediatric, geriatric, and home health care, giving her a rare, full-spectrum view of what families actually need when care comes home.
That breadth of experience taught her one consistent truth: personalized care delivered in the comfort of home changes everything. Carewann was built on that belief, a commitment to care delivered with heart, dignity, and genuine human connection.
Beyond her professional work, Ann enjoys spending time with her husband, a veteran of the United States Air Force. His service shaped her deep respect for veterans and inspired Carewann’s commitment to honoring those who served. Ann finds balance in nature with her dogs, yoga, gardening, and the study of holistic health, including nutrition, natural health practices, and functional medicine. Her personal philosophy carries into Carewann’s approach: care should nurture the whole person.
